SUPER NEAT IDEA!

In Paul's opinion the middle truck should not be set to the same base plate angle as the front truck on your luge. His theory is In a three-truck setup, the middle truck needs its own baseplate angle so it isn't fighting the other two and scrubbing off your speed. We use a sine wave to map these angles because the physics of leaning into a turn is trigonometric, not linear. Mapping it this way keeps the transition from your steering-heavy front truck to your stable rear, which should increase grip without the wheels fighting themselves.

Paul has come up with a calculator to determine what he feels is the best way to figure out your second truck's base plate angle to reduce wheel smearing needless sliding and increased traction and exit speed.

Middle Truck Angle Calculator

Middle Truck Angle: --°

Measure your axle front and middle trucks axle distance while set up on your luge and enter in your front and rear truck baseplate angles. measurements can be in centimeters or in inches, as long as both measurements follow the same scale. The difference is not linear so if your front truck is 10% of the way back it won't be a 10% reduction. It follows a sine curve.
